I SURVIVED....
Yesterday the Big Apple got SLAMMED with its first real heatwave of the season and it really packed a wallop! With the temps soaring over 90 degrees, it really put our AC unit to the test. While our system survived after pumping cool air for most of the day, there were times during the night where I thought it would finally give out. That's never a good thing. However, it survived the night, and so did I.
I suffered personally because I didn't have my AC unit in place. I went to Home Depot to get a mounting rack for my current system but it didn't fit my window properly, so I had to return it. Of course, just my luck, Home Depot didn't have anything else that would work for me so I had to suffer without. I ended up spending most of my afternoon at the bar, trying to get work done there where it was cool. But between the in-and-out interruptions of bar patrons and sales reps, I didn't get very much accomplished. Par for the course.
The night got off to a slow start. We were breaking in new Trivia hosts and while it took them a few questions to find their way, they eventually got it going and by then the bar had filled up to a point where things got back to normal. It ended up being a good time, and we even had a chug-off at the end to determine this week's winner. We haven't had a chug off in a while, so that was good to see.
We also got our first wave of sailors, in for Fleet Week and sure enough, the ladies flocked to them like flies on shit. Comical.
Overall, what started out as a slow evening turned out to be a fun, busy night for all.
The weather today is much more pleasant, so I expect it to be a busier one, especially before the mass exodus out of town begins for the holiday weekend. $4 Domestic Drafts on tap tonight with "Thirsty Thursdays" (5-10pm).
UFC 114: RAMPAGE vs EVANS highlights the holiday weekend at the bar, with the PPV event taking place on Saturday night. The fight card is a pretty good one with the team coaches from last year's edition of "The Ultimate Fighter" facing off against each other in the main event. It's a known fact that Quinton "RAMPAGE" Jackson and Rashad Evans hate each other and this makes the main event that much more exciting to watch. We'll be carrying the event LIVE and as always, NO COVER CHARGE!
That's It. That's All I Got.
