A NICE NIGHT FOR HOCKEY...
There were two big games in the NHL Playoffs last night. In one game, the Boston Bruins were one win from eliminating the Philadelphia Flyers and moving on to the Eastern Conference finals. That being said, the Flyers found their inner strength and brought their "A" game, defeating the Bruins (on the road) 4-0, and bringing the series to 3-2. Next game: Wednesday at 7pm.
In the other matchup, the Pittsburgh Penguins faced off against the Montreal Canadiens, needing a win to eliminate the underdogs from Canada, on the road. The Canadiens, backs against the wall, came out firing early on and took a quick 1-0 lead. The defending Stanley Cup champions, however, didn't let that deter them as they got a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1. That made the many Habs fans in the house a bit nervous (myself included).
The Pens took the lead 2-1 in the second period before Montreal retaliated with two goals in about a three minute span to take the lead for good. There were some nervous moments at the very end when Pittsburgh scored a late goal, but the Habs held on and as a result, we have yet another Game 7 matchup this Wednesday (7pm). This should be huge!
After the games, some of the patrons hung around for some Beer Bingo and NBA Hoops (the Lakers swept Utah and now face Phoenix in the Western Conference Finals). Not a bad way to start the week.
