SICK TO MY STOMACH...

And not just because of my recent bout with the flu. I spent most of the afternoon at the bar, trying to conduct bar business w/FIRE MARSHALL ED; by the time the after work crowd began rolling in, I was feeling light-headed and exhausted and decided to go back to the apartment to take it easy. I've been battling the flu the last couple of days (bad enough to give up tickets to see Ricky Gervais live, by the way); and most of the people I spoke with suggested that I take fluids, and hit the sack. So that was the plan of action... until I made the mistake of putting on the Cavs/Celtics playoff game.

Now as a fan of all Cleveland teams, I'm used to my share of disappointment and heartbreak. Lord knows we've had plenty of them over the years. So by all accounts, I shouldn't have been too surprised by what I witnessed last night. However, the performance put on by the Cavs, the team with the best record in the regular season, was simply appalling. I have never seen such a dismal performance from what was supposed to be a championship team in my life! To be humbled on your home court by 34 points in a must-win game... there's simply no excuses. Especially when the star of your team, the league MVP looked like Stevie Wonder out there on the court. Hell, I could have put up better numbers than "The King" did last night. Simply sickening. I don't want to take anything away from Boston, because when healthy, they are good as any team in the league. However, not only were the Cavs thoroughly outplayed, they seemed to just go through the motions. They looked confused and listless. Now the Cavs must win out the rest of the series to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. And if they play like they did last night, stick a fork in them. They're done.

At least I have tonight to look forward to: MONTREAL vs PITTSBURGH, Game 7. This is a different scenario than the Cavs in that Montreal is the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference and by all rights, should have been knocked out in the last round by the #1 seed. However, they proved to have heart and fought their way through. And now, they have taken the defending Stanley Cup champions to the brink of elimination, forcing a Game 7. The way I see it, my team is playing with house money. So even if they lose tonight (which I hope doesn't happen), I can honestly be proud of their run. They outlived everyone's expectations and most of all, showed grit and heart. So I, along with all of the other Habs fans in the house, will be cheering them on, loud and proud.

Game on!

PUB TRIVIA has been rescheduled to tomorrow night, to accommodate the anticipated crowds for the two big NHL Matchups tonight (Montreal vs Pittsburgh and Boston vs Philadelphia). $15 Miller High Life buckets, $4 Molson Canadian drafts, Molson Golden/Labatt Blue bottles and $4 Mixed Well Drinks (for ladies) all night long!

Back to bed I go. See everyone tonight!

That's It. That's All I Got.

Seriously, series tied 2-2 and they're at home, losing by 20 in the third quarter? Not much for TV viewing. And that was my alternative to the Brewers (who lost 11-3 to the Braves). And I only had three beers last night. Talk about miserable.
