Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

SHAKE UP IN SOUTH AFRICA...
It's Day 6 of the World Cup Tournament and things are beginning to heat up. There's been a lot of low-scoring matches (it is soccer, you know) so far, but at the same time, the majority of the matches have been great to watch. The crowds for the matches have been pretty steady thus far; Obviously, the later in the day, the more fans we see coming in. I guess it's difficult to watch a match if you have to commute to work at the same time; That being said, we're committed to airing EVERY MATCH and that's what we're sticking by.
An intriguing match took place this morning with SWITZERLAND playing heavily favored SPAIN in an opening round match. Everyone and their mother had the Spaniards picked to breeze through this match. Not saying that the Swiss are a pushover, mind you. But if you were to look at the talent on both teams on paper, this was clearly a mismatch. But then again, that's why you play the matches- you never know what will happen.
And in this case, the ultimate stunner took place as the Swiss took advantage of the multiple miscues of SPAIN to pull out an improbable 1-0 victory, thus shaking up pool brackets all over the world. Crazy stuff. It's results like this that makes the World Cup the event that it is. As the tournament goes on, it will only get more interesting and the numbers will increase in bars everywhere, especially if USA can continue its run. Don't forget to catch Team USA vs Slovenia this Friday @ 10am. This is going to be a crucial match, especially in light of the fact that Slovenia won its first match while Team USA tied w/England. On top of that, Slovenia has guaranteed that they will defeat the Americans on Friday.. ballsy call. Should be interesting!

Swandad's losing sleep by trying to watch all the World Cup games, or Swandad is sleeping during all the super exciting World Cup games, either way I'm still looking at Wednesday's post on Friday.
