TGIF!

Weekend's finally here and not a moment too soon. It's been a long week and it's going to be an even longer weekend for me as I find myself preparing to spend a LOT of time at the bar.  So instead of pissing and moaning about it like I usually do, I may as well embrace it full tilt and go with the flow.Get it over with.


That being said, there is a lot happening this weekend to look forward to.  For starters, there is another do-or-die game for the NY Yankees as they once again try to avoid elimination.  Unlike the meek crowd on Wednesday, I expect the bar to be much busier this time around.  Game starts at 8pm.  This game also affects the bar in another way:  If the Yankees win, then we'll be carrying Game 7 on Saturday, live with audio.  If they somehow lose and get eliminated, we'll host the UFC 121 PPV event featuring Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez (10pm, $10 Cover Charge).  So tonight's game has ramifications all around.  Stay tuned.


Then on Sunday, we have a pivotal BREW CREW SUNDAY matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers (and their fans) and the Miami Dolphins (and their fans).  A while back, the bar used to be known as a Pittsburgh Steelers bar before the Miami Dolphins and their rabid Dolfans NYC crowd took over.  Now it's an unofficial battle of bragging rights between the old school crowd and the newbies in what should be a great game and a fun afternoon of good-natured trash talking.  Who shall prevail?  Swing by and find out!  Game time: 1pm


The NY Jets are off this weekend and the NY Giants play Dallas on Monday Night (Mug Night Mondays), so we'll have plenty of NFL games on tap via NFL Sunday Ticket.  Should be a great day of football!

KUDOS to our barback/bartender, JD (better known as "STEALTH") for making the "Perfect Pour"!  Stella Artois had an ongoing program with the bars in NYC in which they would send an undercover "customer" into a random bar and ask for pint of Stella Artois. Stella has an intricate nine point system that goes into pouring a perfect pint and if they (the undercover customer) see a bartender pouring a pint of Stella in the correct fashion, that bartender would be rewarded with a $50 tip!  So we've known about this promotion for months and I've always told the bartenders to be alert when pouring Stellas.  So finally, on Wednesday afternoon, we got a visit from the "undercover patron" who ordered a Stella.  JD promptly served up a perfect pint of Stella and "Voila"!  He got his tip!  Good job "Stealth"!


Off to handle some errands in preparation for a long weekend.  I hope everyone enjoy their weekend and maybe if you're lucky, you'll see me at some point.
