LIVING TO SEE ANOTHER DAY...

Yesterday was do-or-die time for the NY Yankees in their quest to get back to the World Series.  They were facing elimination against the Texas Rangers and had to win this game to keep the series going.  That being said, I was expecting Third Avenue to be teeming with Yankee fans in their familiar hats and tee shirts.  Surprisingly enough, that wasn't the case at all.  While the bars were somewhat busy for a Wednesday afternoon, it wasn't nearly as busy as one would have expected for such an important game.  Had Yankee fans given up hope for their team?  Did they see the writing on the wall and jumped off the band wagon?  It certainly appeared so.

Well, much to the relief of New Yorkers (and bar owners) everywhere, the NY Yankees' bats finally woke up as they pounded out timely hits en route to a big win over Texas, keeping themselves alive in their quest for their 28th World Series Championship.  Game 6 takes place in Texas tomorrow night at 8pm and you can bet your bottom dollar that the bar will be filled with fans, both diehard and fair-weather ones.  Should be a good one.

CHECK IT OUT! The Huffington Post has listed Third and Long as one of the city's best bars to watch sports.  Cool stuff!  Don't forget to vote!

TONIGHT: "Suds and Sports Night" (5-10pm) featuring $4 Domestic Drafts!  Philadelphia vs San Francisco, Game 5 (8pm) and plenty of NHL action via NHL Center Ice!
