AND IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS...

The current World Series Champion NY Yankees seem to have run into a buzzsaw called the Texas Rangers.  After gaining a split in Texas and returning home to start a three-game homestand and a huge home field advantage, it was generally assumed that the Yankees would dispatch the Rangers with relative ease.  I mean, history with the Texas Rangers show that the Yankees own them in the post-season.  They were built (at a cost of $206 million dollars) to steamroll over teams like Texas and naturally assume their place in the World Series.

Problem is that someone forgot to tell that to the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers, with their much younger and inexperienced lineup and with a pitching staff who combined, make less money than C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett, have proven to be an unsettling thorn in the sides of the rapidly aging Pinstripers of New York.  The Yankees suddenly look older and a shell of their former selves.  The big guns that you've gotten used to rely on over the years no longer seem to have that pop in their bats or their steps.  Is this the rude awakening that eventually hits all athletes?  The realization that maybe their window of opportunity is finally closing?  It certainly seems that way.

So, going back to last night's fiasco of a game, the Texas Rangers put on a hitting clinic, hitting practically everything that came their way, much to the dismay of Yankee fans at the bar.

Hopeful Yankee fans before the game started...

Once all was said and done, the Rangers had waltzed away with a 10-3 thrashing of the Yankees, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead.  Shell-shocked Yankee fans left the bar grumbling, wondering if today's game would be the last game of the Yankee post-season.  Fair-weather fans are already jumping off the bandwagon, while the diehards are still holding out hope for the comeback of comebacks.  What will happen?  We'll find out today at 4 o'clock.  I'm interested in seeing who will show up to watch the game.  I guess we'll find out who the REAL Yankee fans are. Stay tuned...

How dare they put that game on during work hours? I wanted to see the look on A-Rod's face when they lose.
