OVERDUE POST...

I apologize for the overdue post; Monday was spent running around handling bar-related errands, a birthday lunch with a good friend, meetings with vendors and so on and so on.  It's only now (12:23am) that I am finally able to get back to the laptop to blast this post.

The weekend was a complete blur.  The bar was pretty busy throughout the weekend and as a result, I was just as busy.  The one day where I actually had some time to myself (Saturday) I tried to make some use of it by checking out the Grub Street Food Fair downtown.  It was supposed to be a street fair with some of the top food venues in the city involved in it.  Sounded promising, however, when I arrived, what I encountered was a clusterfuck of epic proportions.  The Food Fair was set up in what looked like an elementary school playground.  It was very small and as a result, you had thousands (literally) of people jammed in this limited space, trying from all directions to get to the various food stands.  Again, it was a clusterfuck.

After about 30 minutes of trying to navigate the various food lines and getting frustrated at feeling like part of a sardine can, I got fed up and aborted the mission.  To be honest, I felt claustrophobic and panicky; Say if something were to happen and we had to evacuate the area, we would have been screwed.  Weird to say and even weirder to think about, but this is what was going through my head at the time.  Call me crazy.  Oh well, so much for my attempt at culture.

BREW CREW SUNDAY was pretty intense again as we saw the return of the DOLFANS NYC club after a hiatus of a couple of weeks.  They were revved up for their return, especially in light of the fact that they had a big game against Green Bay ahead of them.  By kickoff time, the place was filled with Dolphins fans and the patrons who hate them.  And they got a treat of a game, or several games for that matter.  The Dolphins/Packers game ended up going into overtime before the Dolphins pulled out a big road victory, much to the delight of the DOLFANS NYC club members..

As you can see, it was a pretty hectic day, capping off what turned out to be a pretty hectic and fun weekend.  Fall has officially kicked in.  The only sad part of said weekend?  Watching Ohio State shit the bed in their first week as the #1 ranked team in the country.  Grrr....

TODAY: Champions League soccer resumes today with a full slate of matches, with top teams like CHELSEA, REAL MADRID, AC MILAN, ARSENAL and AS ROMA, just to name a few.  Swing by the bar and enjoy some top-flight action.  Then catch some great MLB playoff action as San Francisco plays Philadelphia (4pm), followed by NY Yankees vs Texas (8pm).  Oh, by the way, did I mention DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS?  Boom.
