On Friday, we got a phone call that SNY TV's "Beer Money" wanted to tape an episode at our bar. HOMETOWN NY LAGER is one of the show's sponsors and they thought it would be a good idea to have the show come by and tape at Third and Long, and who am I to turn down free publicity for the bar? Besides, they have a hot new hostess that I wanted to check out up close and personal.
The TV crew arrived at around 7pm and began scouting the location and interviewing potential players for the show. A half-hour later, they were up and filming.
We even got our door guy, CHRIS involved in the taping! He answered some questions about the NY Yankees and ended up winning a quick $60 bucks! Well done!
We had a steady stream of wannabe misplaced "hipsters" throughout the night, and with that being said, the TV taping was indeed the highlight of Friday night.
Yesterday we had a rare Dolphins-Free afternoon, so we did something a bit different; we held a T-Shirt party. In a nutshell, we did a judging on the coolest, most unique old-school t-shirt worn at the bar and the winner received a $25 bar tab. AFRIKA BAMBATTA won the bar tab with his interesting take on a quote by the "Trix Cereal Bunny Rabbit"...
"It ain't fun if the homies can't have sume!" Classic Bambatta!
There were some other cool t-shirts worn by others throughout the day and everyone seemed to get a kick out of what other people wore. We also held a T-Shirt swap, in which you could trade t-shirts with other people who brought their shirts.
We also had our share of exciting games, including a number of nail-bitters that had folks screaming and yelling throughout the day. Nice wins by the NY Jets, Jacksonville, Washington and Buffalo, just to name a few. The Giants/Eagles night game turned out to be a crazy one as well as there were plenty of hits and turnovers to keep everyone on the edge of their seats up until the very end of the game (won by the Eagles). All told, it was a great day for football!
As far as the weekend goes, that's a wrap. My week started out nicely however, when I got to meet one of my hockey idols, JAROME IGINLA, of the Calgary Flames. The Flames are in town to play the NY Rangers and NJ Devils and happen to be staying around the corner from the bar. I went over w/my sidekick Ruby and met up with the captain of the Flames and he signed a hockey jersey for me. He even got a kick out of Ruby. A class act who will no doubt go into the Hockey Hall of Fame when he hangs up his skates.
Here's hoping this is a sign of a good week ahead!

You didn't get a picture of the great Jarome Iginla holding Ruby?
I really have no clue who Jarome Iginla is.
B to the...
Actually wanted to get a pic with him, but while he was signing my jersey, Ruby drooled on his shoe, so I figured I better not press my luck.
