THE MADNESS of MARCH CONTINUES....

Do you hear that?  That would be the sound of even more bracket sheets being shredded after last night's games.  UCONN continued it's great showing by holding off a pesky San Diego State University team.  I was thoroughly convinced that UCONN would have run out of gas by now, after surviving (and winning) the grueling Big East Tournament.  But the Huskies continue to surprise and amaze with its strong play, led by wunder-kid Kenba Walker and as a result, they are a game away from the Final Four.

Even more surprising was wins by BUTLER and ARIZONA, knocking off always dangerous WISCONSIN and of course, the media darlings, DUKE.  While BUTLER is always a dangerous team to face in the tournament, I surely didn't think they had the wheels to make it this far this year.  And what ARIZONA did to DUKE was simply masterful. They rebounded from a shaky first half to totally dismantle the Blue Devils and leave Coach K with a sour puss.  Priceless!

In the fourth game, the Gators of FLORIDA continues to fly under the radar, stopping the dream run of BYU, needing overtime to do it.  That being said, it was also marked the end of a great college career for JIMMER FREDETTE, who now sits and wait for the pros to come calling.  We may be seeing the latest incarnation of "Pistol" Pete Maravich.

Let's see what tonight's games will bring.  If it's anything close to what we saw last night, it should be another great night of hoops!

While all of this was taking place, there was a large contingent of hockey fans camped out in the back of the bar, watching the return match between the BOSTON BRUINS and MONTREAL CANADIENS. There was a lot of hype going into this game, especially after the events taking place in the previous game where Montreal's MAX PACIORETTY was injured in a vicious "check" by Boston's ZDENO CHARA.  Unfortunately for Habs fans, the game did not live up to the hype; in fact, the game itself was a total whitewash as the Bruins CRUSHED Montreal, 7-0.  It wasn't even close.  My stomach still hurts after watching the thrashing that the Boston team placed on my team.  Whoa.

All I can do at this point is hope that my team rebounds from this loss as they prepare for the playoffs.  Lot of disappointed Habs fans in the house last night, that's for sure.

Overall, a fun night for sports fans.  Expect more of the same tonight!
