FOND FAREWELLS...

In this business good people come and go all the time. Some encounters are brief, while others last a long time.  In either case, all of the encounters are memorable, and it often makes you feel sad when you see the good people move on.  That being said, it is with great sadness that the bar (and myself) bid a fond farewell to one of our own: Craig "Big Black" Smith.

Craig has been a part of the Third and Long family for over ten years;  His big smile and magnetic personality was always the first thing that greeted you on Saturday nights.  He was an imposing figure at the door yet a cuddly teddy bear once you got to know him.  He endeared himself to many patrons over the years and quite often, folks would come by, just to say hi to him or ask about his whereabouts.  That is an indication that you are well liked and respected.

As much as we love and appreciate Craig for who he is and what he's done for us, he's moving on to bigger and better things.  He'll start a new chapter of his life in Washington, D.C. at the end of the month and we wish him nothing but the best.  I'm sure he will be successful in his new venture.  And he will definitely be missed here in NYC!

If you happen to be around the neighborhood tonight, join us as we bid farewell to Craig "Big Black" Smith: A true gentleman.
