YANKEES WIN! THEEEEEE YANKEES WIN!

MLB Opening Day started out with a flourish as the NY Yankees hosted the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium.  We had a good crowd of diehard Yankee fans on hand and they were treated to an afternoon of hot dogs, cold beer and a great game (if you were a Yankee fan at least).

Supported by timely hitting and a strong start by Yankee pitcher C.C. SABATHIA, the Yankees gave their team a good reason to believe that they will be a team to be reckoned with this season.  This should be an interesting season for the Pinstripers in light of the fact that their pitching rotation is suspect and a lot of their "marquee" players are heading into the twilight of their careers.  Will they figure in this season's playoff plans?  Only time will tell but if you were to base it off of their Opening Day performance, it's safe to say they will be in the thick of the A.L. East race.

Tonight marks the start of the NY Mets season and they are heading into this season with a lot of uncertainty, on and off the field.  Key players are going on the DL (Bay), others are coming off of an injury-ravaged season (Beltran); then there's the crazy off-the-field issues (Madoff, ownership, etc) and as a Met fan, you're don't know what to expect this year.  Maybe it's a good thing that they are starting the season on the road (7pm vs Florida).  At least they can say that (for the moment) they are undefeated.

That being said, we're helping the NY Mets kick off their 2011 season with an Opening Night Viewing Party TONIGHT (7pm)!  Sponsored by HOMETOWN NY LAGER, catch the Mets as they face off against the Marlins.  There will be $3 pints of Hometown NY Lager and giveaways aplenty throughout the game!  So join fellow Met fans as they help usher in the 2011 season!  Dress in your Mets best as it should be a good time! (21 & over)

THIS WEEKEND should be jammed packed with sports action at Third and Long as we serve up everything from MLB baseball (MLB Extra Innings package), NHL hockey playoff push  (NHL Center Ice Package), the Final Four (Sat. 6pm), NASCAR, and EPL Soccer.  You name it, we probably have it.  Should be a great weekend if you're a sports fan!

See you tonight!
