GOOD TIMES FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Last night the bar hosted a fundraiser for the 2011 World Police and Fire Games and despite the brutally hot day we had and the torrential downpour that followed, we had a fairly good turnout.  Members of Team NYC were on hand to greet and party with the guests and the Organizing Committee was able to raise a lot of money towards the cost of hosting the Games.  So in all, it was a good night for everyone.

And if you were a fan of the Mavs, it was a better night for you as they were once again able to shut down the Miami Heat to take a 3-2 series lead. Say what you will about both teams, but it's safe to say that this series has officially captured everyone's attention.  Even if you don't give a rat's arse about basketball, you're probably finding yourself taking at least a glimpse at the game, if for nothing else, to see what the big deal is. And with Dallas on the cusp of winning the Championship over the "Big Three" (James, Wade and Bosh), I'm fairly confident that all eyes will be on the TV's this Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the attention shifts back to Vancouver, British Columbia as the Canucks try to right the ship in their Stanley Cup series vs Boston.  The Bruins exploded for 12 goals in Games 3 & 4 to tie up the series at two games each.  It has been an emotional and very physical series and it will be interesting to see which Vancouver team will show up to play tonight.  We'll carry the game LIVE (w/Audio) (8pm) with a Viewing Party, sponsored by Ommegang BPA ($4/pints during the game)!

Lots going on this weekend in the Big Apple, including the Big Apple BBQ Festival in Madison Square Park,  NY Yankees home vs Cleveland, The Belmont Stakes and of course, my FAVORITE parade, the Puerto Rican Day Parade.  Summer is definitely kicking into high gear!

AND FINALLY: For a limited time only, Third and Long has brought on board ALEXANDER KEITH'S NOVA SCOTIA STYLE BROWN ALE!  Enjoy it while it lasts!

Enjoy the weekend and remember to check out WEBSITE for upcoming events and great drink specials!
