ALMOST TIME FOR THE GAMES!

It's been a couple of days since my last post and to be honest, there's really no rhyme or reason behind it all.  Simply a slow weekend with nothing exciting to report.  The dog days of August will do that for you I guess.  I  am excited, however, at the fact that we're about to get hit with an invasion of the good kind: The World Police and Fire Games are set to kick off this weekend!

Yes, over 18, 000 athletes plus coaches, families and friends will make their way to the Big Apple this week to compete and support one another in Olympic-style events.  The Games, held every two years in various locations all over the world, will be making its first appearance in New York City and the city's going all out for the event.  Look at it as the Olympics we never had (and should have gotten).

That being said, I'm expecting to see a lot of foot traffic over the next two weeks with athletes, tourists and supporters looking to "drink in" the experience of the Games and the hospitality of New York City.   New Yorkers, especially those with that "special affinity" for police and firemen will no doubt be looking forward to The Games as well as the city will be overrun with plenty of both.  We will certainly have our share of visitors, that's for sure.  It should be a great couple of weeks!

MATT LONG & THE METS?  The NY Mets will be hosting the Atlanta Braves this weekend and on Saturday, the Mets will present our own MATT LONG for a meet-and-greet. Ticket price includes: pre-game lecture with Matt Long, copy of his book, and Promenade Reserved Infield ticket to the game.

Nice photo of Matt with Prusty and Del Z. I'm going to see if I'm free to go to this even though it's a baseball game. 1st preseason game in exactly 1 month!
