DETROIT: THE NEW TITLETOWN??

Last night produced the oddest thing: Two teams from the city of Detroit playing in prime time.  Yes, PRIME TIME!  When was the last time you saw that on TV?  On one channel, you had the Detroit Tigers battling the Texas Rangers for a chance to play in the World Series, while on another channel, the UNDEFEATED Detroit Lions were laying the smackdown on their division rivals, the Chicago Bears.  And even stranger? A bar full of Lions and Tigers fans!

How weird is that?  Detroit.  D-E-T-R-O-I-T.  Yeah, you can possibly count on them to be competitive in maybe one sport (usually hockey, once in awhile baseball or basketball), but the LIONS? Who'da thunk it?

If you had any doubts about the Lions up to this point, last night's performance should erase the doubts of most skeptics that they are for real.  With a solid offense and a nasty defense, the long run of losing seasons and #1 picks are finally bearing fruit.  Will they go undefeated?  It's too early to tell, as they still have to face Green Bay.  But this much is for certain: They are sure fun to watch these days!

And the Detroit Tigers?  Flying under the radar for most of the season, they finally find themselves on the cusp of another trip to the World Series.  But in order to do that, they will have to go through Texas, who has a chip on their shoulders and something to prove themselves after last year's dismal performance.  The Tigers are currently down two games to none, but they are by no means out of it.  Game 3 is tonight (8pm).

How far will both teams go?  Only time will tell but one thing is for certain, they are surely writing a great story for the city of Detroit!

DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS kicks off after work!  $1 Bud/Bud Light mugs ALL NIGHT LONG!  MLB playoffs (8pm), NHL Center Ice package, International Soccer doubleheader (USA vs ECUADOR, 7pm followed by BRAZIL vs MEXICO (9pm)!
