Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

THANKS BOB.....
As we conclude our week-long celebration of the past 20 years in Murray Hill, there are many people responsible for the success of Third and Long. And there are many reasons why Third and Long has been successful over the course of the past 20 years. Most notably, lots of support...family and friends alike.
However, there is one person who stands out among others. From the bar's beginning there was a person who kept two eager, enthusiastic and potentially misguided brothers grounded. And that person was Robert "Bob" Burns.
Bob was a family friend since the 1960's, from a little known, often overlooked, Brooklyn neighborhood called Cypress Hills.....
Without "Bob" and his dedication, support and sage advice throughout the early years, Third and Long may have never finished its first 5 years let alone....20 years. I know personally that I've often asked myself "What would Bob do?" in certain situations, that's how much he rubbed off on me. He was loved and respected by everyone who dealt with him, either as a co-worker or as a patron and his memory lives on at Third and Long.
Thank you Bob!!! Thank You, Mrs (Pat) Burns, Patricia, Robert "Bobby", and Maryanne.....
Matt, Jim, and the Long Family.
