Then last night, NY Yankee fans saw what may have been a career-ending injury to one of the all time greatest Yankee ball players, Mariano Rivera (on a fluke accident, coincidentally enough);
Now today we learn of the death of MCA, one of the members of the pioneer rap group, The Beastie Boys.

What's sad about all of these instances is that all three people have had some influence in the lives of many people over the years. Whether it be as a childhood/young adult idol, or as a reminder of your youth, these individuals left their mark in some way, shape or form and it's sad to see their careers or lives end.
Just another brutal reminder that time stands still for no one.
