After the crazy 3 OT win by the
NY Rangers last week over the
Washington Capitals, the two teams faced off against each other on
Cinco de Mayo. The effects of that triple OT game seemed to have had an effect on the
Rangers as they found themselves a bit flat-footed at the start and falling behind early in the game. They spent the rest of the game trying to play catch up and while they kept the game close, they didn't seem to have enough energy to play alert hockey and it cost them a win.

Now the two teams find themselves back in
New York tonight, tied at two games apiece, playing in the dreaded, pivotal
Game 5 (7:30p, w/audio). It is well documented that the team that wins
Game 5 of a seven-game series, ends up winning the series the majority of the time. Also add to the equation that the
Caps have won three times at
Madison Square Garden already this season. And remember, in the last series, the
Rangers lost
Game 5 before clawing their way back by winning the last two games to win the last series vs
Ottawa. That's a lot to think about. You certainly don't want to find yourselves having to do that again if you are the
NY Rangers. In any case, tonight's game should be
INTENSE!

In the meantime, the
NJ Devils find themselves one game away from gaining a spot to the Eastern Conference, stopping the
Philadelphia Flyers 4-2, on
Martin Brodeur's 40th birthday. They can close out the series in
Philadelphia on Tuesday night (7:30pm). Imagine if we somehow end up with a
Devils/ Rangers Conference Final (Shades of
"Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!")?
