JUST WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO LOSE ALL FAITH....

In the last few weeks, I've begun questioning to all who would listen, where all of the beautiful women are. New York has always been known as a mecca for beautiful women. But lately I've noticed that the caliber of babes that I'm used to seeing around the city were a tad bit "off" from what I'm used to seeing at this time of year. I'm used to being overwhelmed by the beautiful babes, peeling off their winter skin and flaunting all that is good about them. Instead, I've been inundated with trolls and wannabe Paris Hiltons (eek); I was thinking that maybe all of the hotties made the exodus out of town for good- a frightening thought indeed.

Well, my faith was restored on Tuesday. It was as if by magic, all of the beautiful women of NYC came back to the city in full force and all of them walked by the bar, one by one. T-BILL, I think this was the moment we had been waiting for with baited breath. I can honestly say it's official: Summertime is here. And not a moment too soon. Welcome back o beautiful ladies of NYC!

DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS RECAP

Last night's Dollar Draft Madness brought about another reminder that summer is finally here: INTERNS. Yes, they are back, ready to slam down mugs of beers with their hard-earned stipends and fall in love with whomever they meet from week to week. It's a time-honored ritual of summer Tuesday nights. You get the freshly minted graduates of college out and about, getting used to the surroundings of Murray Hill; Or you'll get that junior-turned-senior, slaving away for countless hours at an internship for peanuts and making the most of their nights in the greatest city in the world. Mesh those two worlds together with your regulars of Dollar Draft Madness and you get a summer's worth of interesting stories. And I'm pretty sure this year will be much of the same. Stay tuned.

PUB TRIVIA MADNESS TONIGHT!

As if you didn't have this memorized in your mental Rolodex by now, it's Wednesday which means that it's PUB TRIVIA night. The night where you and your co-workers and friends complete against other teams for bragging rights, cool prizes and of course, the chance to hoist the coveted TRIVIA CUP! It's free to play (another cool thing) and all of the action starts at 8pm! Get there early as spots tend to fill up quickly. $4.00 Mixed Well Drinks for ladies and Miller High Life buckets for all (5/$15)!

That's it for now. Enjoy the day and see everyone tonight!

SO MUCH TO DO.... SO LITTLE TIME...

I spent most of Monday out and about, dealing with personal errands and bar stuff, which kept me away from my computer for most of the day (which is rare). FIRE MARSHALL ED and myself have been in constant dialogue over the past few days, looking at things we could do to improve the Third and Long experience. While some things are obvious (improving the bathrooms, getting "the XLerator", etc.), others will be much more subtle. It's been fun talking about and brain-storming ways to improve the place. Bottom line- we love the bar and want our patrons to love it too, so we're willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. So be on the lookout for changes at the bar in the very near future.

As far as more immediate things taking place at the bar, we are geared up for another session of GUITAR HERO NIGHT, this week at Third and Long. This Wednesday night, Coors Light and Third and Long offers up another fun night of "Rock and Roll Madness"! With $4.00 Coors Lights and $3.00 Mixed Well Drinks (for ladies), the night is sure to be a sure-fire hit!

**Um.... sorry, the girl's not included in the GUITAR HERO NIGHT festivities.... Unless you play so well that it causes a fine damsel to jump out of her clothes!

INTERNS dominated the landscape again on Monday night. I had to turn away a small group of them early on, as one bright member of the group decided that he would be cool by using his brother's ID.... only problem was that he was blue-eyed while his brother's ID clearly stated that his eyes were brown. D'uh!? Needless to say, he wasn't very happy about getting pinched. He tried to give me some lip on his way out, but I didn't pay him too much attention.

*Why do folks get mad at you when THEY don't have their ID's? I didn't tell them to leave it at home..... Cheeky Bastards.

Just a heads up: We hope to get the MLB Baseball Package up and running at the bar as soon as we can- probably within the next day or so. With the "Package", you'll now be able to catch your favorite baseball team on TV, every night of the week. Look for great specials tied-in with the MLB Package soon!

HOLY HEATWAVE, PT. II

It's 12:45am and as I write this, it's still 86 degrees outside. Hot, humid and funky. What a way to enjoy a Monday night. According to my weather goddess, HEIDI JONES, we will have to endure near 100-degree weather for one more day before we are hit with a deluge of rain that will break the heatwave. I only pray that our air conditioning system holds up until then.

CHEAP INTERNS RULE THE NIGHT

I stopped in a short while ago to check in with the staff and to see how things were going. It was obvious that the night was a good one: plenty of beer mugs all over the place; cluster of small groups engrossed in conversation and music, having a good time. The majority of the crowd that was still there when I arrived were definitely interns. Some of them were still wearing temporary ID cards on their chests.

As I hung out at the bar, talking with FIRE MARSHALL ED, I couldn't help but to notice during the few transactions that took place that none of the big time spenders were leaving any tips. One group in particular would stroll up to the bar, order a fist full of mugs, pay for their bounty, and simply tuck away their change- with no thought whatsoever to leaving a tip. What's up with that?? It was bad enough that they didn't even bother to think about leaving a tip- what made it worse was some of the attitudes these kids had. As if they were doing you a favor. Where do they think they are? England??? Talk about nerve.

THANKS, DEE DEE....

During the course of the recent NHL Playoffs, I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great hockey fans. One fan in particular was a young lady by the name of DEE DEE. She was a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan, from Detroit who was not only cute, but knew her hockey too (a very nice combination, I must say). She came by the bar for every Red Wings game, sat in her same seat each time and never complained the few times we didn't have the sound on for a game.

Saturday night I found myself working as a last-minute replacement for FIRE-MARSHALL ED (he got called away for duty). While in the middle of a conversation with another employee, imagine my surprise when this hot chick came walking through the bar with a small bag in her hand. It was DEE DEE. She caught me off guard because quite frankly, I've never seen her without her Red Wings jersey before. She turned out to be hotter that I thought.

DEE DEE walked over to me and presented me with the small bag. She said it was a token of gratitude for us being so nice to her and her friends during the hockey playoffs. To be honest, I was quite taken aback by the gesture. It's not very often that a patron would go out of their way do that for me. It was a nice feeling, I have to admit.

EURO 2008 UPDATE:

Monday saw our first upset of the tournament as the pesky Dutch squad of the Netherlands decided to put aside their differences to put on a masterclass display on the favored Azzurri of Italy, trouncing them 3-0. It wasn't even close. The Italians are probably wailing in the streets of Rome as we speak.

The other match featured Le Bleus of France and Romania, the "weakest" team in this group, otherwise known as the Group of Death. That match, on the other hand, was a bit of a snooze-fest, as each team played tentative soccer, resulting in a 0-0 tie. Whoopie.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE:

Spain vs Russia (12 noon)

Greece vs Sweden (2:45pm).

$4.00 Carlsberg Drafts during the matches!!!

That's it for now. I'll be working the day shift tomorrow, so you won't catch me online. Try to stay cool and if you are around during the afternoon, stop in and say hello!

Dollar Draft Madness tonight!!! ($1.00 Bud/Bud Light MUGS)
