Now that the fans of the local teams have come to grips with the fact that the YANKEES and METS are out of the playoff hunt, everyone's ready to embrace PLAYOFF FEVER! The teams invited to the "Big Dance" this year are:
AMERICAN LEAGUE:
Tampa Bay vs Chicago White Sox
Anaheim/L.A. vs Boston
NATIONAL LEAGUE:
Philadelphia vs Milwaukee
Chicago Cubs vs L.A. Dodgers
As you look at the teams playing in this year's playoffs, if you are a fan of one of the New York teams, you can't help but to notice the ironies displayed; For example: The Phillies, arch-rivals of the NY Mets are in and they are out. The Red Sox, arch-rivals of the NY Yankees are in and the Yankees are not. Both Chicago teams are in the playoffs, both NY teams are out. The L.A. Dodgers, managed by "former" NY Yankees head Joe Torre are in the playoffs and the team that basically ran him out of town (the Yankees) are out. I could go on and on, but I think you get my point. This simply wasn't New York's year. Interesting observations.
Baseball playoffs begin this afternoon at 3pm! $4.00 Brooklyn Pennant Ale pints throughout the baseball playoffs!
