HAPPY TRAILS...
Murray Hill is always in a constant state of change it seems. People move in, others move out. Stores and restaurants open and close all the time. It's just the nature of things I guess. That being said, it's unfortunate to hear that ANITA's Delicatessen, located across the street from the bar will be closing its doors this week after a two year run.
After opening its doors amid high expectations, fanfare (and apparently high rent), it failed to live up to the hype and eventually collapsed under the weight of high rents/low sales. It's a shame because I personally had high hopes for the place, especially in light of the way it was run by its previous owners. There's something to be said for having a 24-hour deli in your neighborhood and to see this one close is a disappointment. What will go in its place remains to be seen but I hope it's something useful to the neighborhood.
While we're still on the topic of "Happy Trails", I am also sad to announce the departure of another fixture of Third and Long, as the one we all affectionately know as OPIE CUNNINGHAM will be leaving us this week. He's moving on to bigger and better things and while we will miss his wit, charm and funny antics around the bar, we support his decision to branch out and spread his wings. We thank him for his many years of service to Third and Long and he will definitely be missed. You can catch him tomorrow night as he hosts PUB TRIVIA or on Thursday night behind the stick if you want to swing by and say good bye. I'm sure he'll appreciate seeing everyone.
Don't forget about DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS tonight, featuring $1 Bud/Bud Light mugs ALL NIGHT LONG and catch FRENCHY/AMY SMART behind the stick!
That's It. That's All I Got.
