CROWNING A CHAMPION TONIGHT...

Looks like we will be crowning a champion tonight..... No we're not talking about the Detroit Tigers-We're talking about the champion of PUB TRIVIA!  Tonight is the finals of the Tournament of Champions!  Eight teams are up for the title in a Winner-Takes-All event!

Fun starts at 8pm!  If your team isn't a part of the finals, you can still play along and win some cool prizes!  $4 Well Drinks (for ladies) and Miller Lite buckets (5/$20) available all night!

This should be a "slobberknocker" of an event, so bring your "A" game!  You're going to need it!  As for tonight's theme?  It's a mystery theme!

See you tonight!

GREAT MINDS CONVENE FOR PUB TRIVIA!

Last night we hosted our weekly Pub Trivia soiree and it was fun-filled time on a number of levels.  The theme of the night was "puzzles" and if you can't wrap your head around what that would consist of, think of anything from brain teasers to word jumbles and that's what you had to deal with all night.  Personally, I suck at brain teasers, word jumbles and stuff like that, but the kids seem to get into it and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

I also got to see my good friend and college mate, Becky, who's in town this week to coordinate this weekend's National Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk in NYC.  She's a great friend with a big heart and I'm proud to see her take on such an undertaking for a great cause.

Congrats to "If I Were Anymore Inbred, I'd Be A Sandwich" for winning this week's competition and winning a spot in the Tournament of Champions final, which takes place in early October!

TONIGHT: Join us for our viewing party for the GIANTS vs PANTHERS (8pm)!  We'll air the game LIVE w/audio and offer up Corona/Corona Lt Buckets (5/$25) and $4 Coors Lt. pints during the game!

PUB TRIVIA WEDNESDAY at THIRD AND LONG

Happy Hump Day! It's Wednesday, which means only one thing: PUB TRIVIA time!  Our weekly gathering of pop culture brainiacs has taken on a life of its own over the past couple of weeks with a lot of new teams slowly fighting to take over the mantle of Top Dawg.  In the past, it was always the same few teams that would win week after week; While I wouldn't quite call it a dynasty in the making, it came pretty close.

Now that the Spring/Summer months have come, it's brought about a slew of new teams eager to compete for the weekly top prize of a $45 bar tab and a chance to hoist the coveted "Trivia Cup" (currently insured/valued at $37.99).  More importantly, it allows the winning team to have bragging rights for the night and something to talk about around the water cooler the next day.  Talk about team bonding at its best!

So round up the mates from the office and join us tonight for another fun-filled night of hardcore Pub Trivia fun!  Competition starts around 8-ish, but we highly recommend that you get there at least an hour earlier and stake out a spot for your team.  Good times await!  Oh, and bring your "A" game!

Cheers!

RETURN OF THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

Tonight we are bringing back another edition of our famous Pub Trivia TOURNAMENT of CHAMPIONS. This event is held twice a year and it pits teams against one another over the course of a few weeks to determine who, in fact, is the best Pub Trivia team around. Our Pub Trivia nights are fun enough on its own. The T.O.C. brings the fun to a who new level. So, if you and your friends/ office mates think you have what it takes to be "Top Dawg" of Pub Trivia, put your money where your mouth is and show up tonight for Round 1 of our Pub Trivia Tournament of Champions and let's see what you're made of! TONIGHT'S THEME: New York City History

Registration begins at 7pm and the fun starts at 8! Free to play. (1-8 members per team max)

We have been getting a lot of calls for the upcoming playoff games and it should be a rockin' Sunday afternoon. We don't take reservations so my advice to everyone is to get there early and snag a seat. We will be raffling off prizes throughout the game, thanks to Anheuser Busch so look out for some cool swag. It should be a good time!

That's It for now. See you at Trivia tonight!

PUB TRIVIA CHALLENGE: THE CHRISTMAS EDITION

It's Wednesday and as all of the regulars know by now, Wednesday nights means Trivia Night around here. Ever since we brought Trivia on board a little over a year ago, our Wednesdays have gone from a mundane, dead night to one of the most popular nights of the week. Business is great and more importantly, I can't help but to notice all of the new connections that have been formed through Trivia Night.

With the friendly "competition" between teams, groups that probably wouldn't have given each other the time of day otherwise, have forged friendships through our weekly gatherings. And of course, there have been plenty of hook-ups because of Trivia (not a bad thing)! Many of our Trivia participants have become such regulars that the bartenders automatically know what some of them are drinking before they even ask for it (THE STAIN and her Bourbon and Coke for example). All told, Wednesday nights are now a good night to be at the bar.

That being said, tonight is our Christmas Edition of Pub Trivia! Third and Long is stepping up its game and bringing you our "Big Trivia Challenge: The Christmas Edition". Featuring a whopping special $50 BAR TAB for the winning team to spread some Christmas cheer! Remember, 1-6 members per team, FREE TO PLAY! $4 Mixed Well Drinks (for ladies) and Miller High Life buckets all night long!

There's also a Blue Moon FULL MOON WINTER ALE promo (8:30pm), where you get to sample Blue Moon's seasonal beer! Meet the babes from Blue Moon and score some free swag in the process! That all takes place tonight!

Plenty of NHL action as well, led by the rivalry matchup between the New York Rangers and Islanders! Should be a fun night!

That's It. That's All I Got.

AMERICA'S TEAM CONTINUES ITS DOMINATION...

The improbable streak continues as the Cleveland Cavs steamrolled over the Atlanta Hawks, 84-74 to complete their second straight sweep in the playoffs. Led by LEBRON "The King" JAMES' 27 points, the Cavs continued their domination of their opponents in this year's playoffs. Along with sweeping both series, every victory has been a double-digit win. As a long-suffering Cleveland fan, I have to say that I'm duly impressed with how this team has played this post-season, let alone all year long. At this rate, they have to be the odds-on-favorites to win it all. That being said, this IS a Cleveland team and history has not been kind to the sports teams of Cleveland. Will this be the team that finally wipes the black cloud of hard luck away from my fair city? I'm cautiously optimistic....

While the Cavs were busy steamrolling over its competition, the CAPITALS/PENGUINS were beating the shit out of each other in a hard fought series. The Penguins held a 3-2 series lead going into last night's game at the Igloo. These two teams have been battling it out the whole series and last night's game was no exception. The Capitals needed a win to stay alive in the series while the Penguins looked to close out the series in front of their home crowd.

As expected, Game 6 turned into another war with both teams taking it to one another like true warriors. And not surprisingly, the game went into overtime with the Capitals pulling out a hard-fought victory, 5-4 and forcing a Game 7 in the process. The deciding game of the series takes place tomorrow night at 7pm.

SNIP-TUCK!

Last night's Pub Trivia featured an energetic group of competitors, hell bent on winning the "Trivia Cup" from last week's champions. DR. FUNKE.

Along with the spirited group of trivia players, we also had a group of hardcore hockey fans, there to catch some NHL action. Ironically enough, they were also drawn into the madness we call Pub Trivia:

Hosted by OPIE CUNNINGHAM and his new sidekick, KRIS-KROSS, last night's trivia went well, for the most part (aside from some microphone snafus). Last night's theme was "TV LAND" and the crowd really seemed to get into the subject matter, especially when the audio question came up and you could see the contestants singing along with the various TV theme songs. Pretty funny stuff.

When the smoke cleared, however, we found ourselves crowning a new Pub Trivia champion: STIFFLER and BEN "Now Known As The Asset" AFFLECK, who went by the team name, "The Brian Rice Intervention Project".

They won the coveted "Trivia Cup" filled with beer, and a $30.00 bar tab. Congrats boys! Do you think you have what it takes to dethrone the champs? Well, come back next Wednesday night as we play our Holiday Edition of Wednesday Night Pub Trivia! Fun starts at 8pm!

To see more photos of last night's festivities, check out our FACEBOOK PAGE! And while you're there, make sure to sign up to become a fan of THIRD and LONG!

The fun didn't end there. As the night went on, one of our trivia hosts, KRIS KROSS decided that he wanted to cut his hair. He then offered to have his hair cut if someone bought him a shot of Jameson's. Boy, he shouldn't have done that. Next thing you know, our bartenders, SCUBA STEVE and AMY SMART were leading the charge in playing "Sheer Genius" on him, with predictably disastrous results:

It's safe to say he'll be visiting Astor Place today.

TONIGHT: BUCKET o' LIGHTS (5-10pm), featuring Miller Lite, Michelob Light and Coors Light bottles, 5/$15.00! And don't forget about NFL Football, with NEW ORLEANS vs CHICAGO (8pm)!

Next up: The end of an era......

WE HAVE A WINNER!!

Last night's edition of WEDNESDAY NIGHT PUB TRIVIA produced a pretty raucous crowd. Many of the guests were there to challenge for the newly installed "Trivia Cup", which comes with bragging rights, a reserved table to defend their title and most importantly, a free six-pack of Bud Lights to toast their victory.

Last week's champions.... before this week's matchup.

As I mentioned before, the turnout for tonight's activity was pretty robust; A rather large contingent of females made the night that much more "interesting" to say the least.

And at the end of the game, we crowned a new champion. Congrats to "DR. FUNKE" on a job well done and we look forward to your team coming back next week to defend your title.

TONIGHT: There's a lot going on tonight at Third and Long; For starters, it's "BUCKET O'LIGHTS" Night, featuring buckets of Miller Lite, Michelob Lite and Coors Light (5/$15.00), beginning at 5pm.

Then we also have an IONA COLLEGE reunion party taking place, so if you are an alum of the Gaels, feel free to stop by!

Add to the mix, a Coors Light promo (7-8pm), a Brooklyn Beer promo (8-10pm, featuring the great tasting Dark Chocolate Stout), and of course, NFL, NCAA, NBA and NHL action on the TV's. Expect a busy night!

TOMORROW: The 75th anniversary of the repeal of PROHABITION!!! Read more about that HERE

We are currently accepting bookings for office parties and intimate gatherings the upcoming holiday season. Call (212).447.5711 for availability!
