MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER... (or "Hot Monkey Love Night at Third and Long")
Last night was a pretty busy night at the bar; At this time of year, that week between Christmas Day and New Year's brings a potpourri of people, from all over the place. You get the tourists who are here to shop and to celebrate New Year's Eve in Times Square; Then you get the college kids, home for the holiday break. In between that, sandwich in those underage high school kids who try to use big brother's ID and you end up with a pretty active evening.
Now last night was pretty standard as far as Dollar Draft Madness go; groups of people ordering mugs of beer by the fistfuls- keeping the bar staff on their toes, refilling orders, collecting and cleaning mugs, etc. The crowd on this particular night seemed more festive than usual- very chatty and happy. Maybe the glow of the holidays is still wearing strong. There were a lot of hooking up taking place too. Not the usual beer-goggle type of hook up (where boy buys girl a mug of beer, idle chit chat, then a phone number at the end); No, this time the hook-ups that took place was more like the hot-buttered-raw-monkey-love kind, where folks were grinding up on each other and in some cases, practically having relations on the bar. It was enough to make yours truly gasp. Some folks had no shame in them as they were pretty much giving a free show (or as free as one could get without taking any clothes off). The funny part of it all was that the only ones who really noticed anything was the bar staff. The customers (or those who weren't hooking up) were pretty oblivious to it all. You can't make this up.
I was startled and pleasantly surprised by an appearance from my best friend from high school. Apparently he was in town to visit his brother and decided to look me up. Now back in the day, we were as tight as two friends could be. Hanging out with the boys, getting into trouble, hooking up w/chicks, etc. He was my wingman. After high school I came to New York for college and he chose to stay in Ohio, and we drifted apart; nothing bad, mind you; just a natural progression of things. Seeing him again brought back so many good memories and we immediately picked up where we left off, as if it was yesterday. It was good to see him again.
One other note: What's up with European women and the lack of hygiene? There was this rather exotic looking bleached blonde from Italy who came in the bar towards the end of the night with a group of people. When she walked by me, I immediately detected a stench- similar to a taxi cab on a hot muggy day. I chalked it up to one of the males of the group- surely a female could not smell like that. A few minutes later, OPIE CUNNINGHAM, our barback comes up to me and says that the chick "Stank like hell". I said "No way!" and he nodded in the affirmative. So I do a casual "fly-by" to get a quick whiff, on the down low. Sure enough, she did "Stank like hell". It was enough to make me want to vomit. I know that we all have our own personal customs and habits and such, but DAYUM! It's a damn shame because she was cute too....
That's about it for now. Will be back later in the day with another update. In the meantime, if you are in the neighborhood tonite, stop by for our MOLSON CANADIAN HOCKEY NIGHT PROMO! There will be special guests and giveaways and $3.00 MOLSON CANADIAN and MOLSON XXX! Sure to be a good time! Hope to see you there!

hey now...don't lump all european womyn into the stanky b.o. boat...the french happen to have a very old tradition of masking any unpleasant odor (ciggies in the case of yours truly) with perfume, so there are some europeans who smell quite nice thank you very much!
