NOT YOUR TYPICAL NIGHT......
Last night was one of those rare nights where variety was the order of the day. Most weekend nights, the bars on the strip (ours included) is usually heavy on Frat Boys, J.A.P.S, Bridge-n-Tunnel and/or tourists. Last night had portions of each group; however, include in the mix a smattering of wannabe-hipsters, a movie crew from a certain movie being filmed in the city starring a certain actor best known for being a HAPPY GILMORE, a sports play-by-play dude for the L.A. LAKERS, and a group of firemen from DETROIT, MI., and it easily made for an unusually fun evening.
There were the group of teachers who's known to frequent the bar on Tuesday nights; they were there to celebrate the birthday of one of their own. They spent most of the night in the back of the bar, dancing and having a sweaty good time.
Then there were the usual suspects: JON CUSACK, BEN AFFLECK, STIFFLER, AMERICAN PSYCHO, UCONN FAN et al; they were in rare form, enjoying copious amounts of MILLER LITE (someone sponsor these guys already), while engaging in typical "boys-will-be-boys" behavior. Kudos to AMERICAN PSYCHO for being thisdamnclose to actually hooking up towards the end of the night. He was in the process of working some well-endowed tail when she met up with an "old-friend". She went over to talk to the guy and I guess AMERICAN PSYCHO didn't feel like waiting around and ended up leaving..... She was disappointed when she found out he'd left.... Oh soooo close, dude!
Speaking of STIFFLER, he gets the dubious "THAT GUY" AWARD for being a drunken mess and yes, being "THAT GUY".... After wrestling half the bar, knocking over CUSACK's beer and allowing his MILLER LITE muscles to take over, hands down he gets the award for the night. Hey, we've all been there at one time or another...
We had another new bartender working with us last night; PIXIE MODEL CHICK made her debut last night and I have to say, I was pretty impressed. We also broke in a new barback, KEN (of Barbie and Ken). I overheard a few whispers from the females about how cute he was throughout the night. A hard worker, something we can never get enough of at 3 & L.
Happy Hour was pretty good; then after a lull of about an hour, the bar picked up quickly and maintained momentum the rest of the night, which was a good thing. I've been under the weather since Wednesday and last night I was really feeling worse for the wear; Being busy helped take my mind off of things, although I did hit the "wall" towards the end of the night. I'm making up for it now as I feel like I'm holding a ton of bricks on my body. Hopefully things will be better by Sunday as I expect a good crowd for Opening Sunday of the NFL.
Speaking of DETROIT Firefighters, with the observance of the 5th Anniversary of 9/11 this Monday, there will probably be an influx of firemen from around the world visiting our fair city this weekend and through 9/11. Welcome them with open arms.
Best part of the night- NO PROBLEMS! It seemed almost too good to be true. An occasional knucklehead here or there, but other than that, smooth sailing- which was a good thing. I was in no mood to have to break up a fight or something like that. Overall, a pretty good night!
