Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

R.I.P. BIG GUY....
(BAM BAM BIGELOW 1962-2007)
I know this bit of news isn't exactly related to Third and Long as we know it, but in a weird way, it is. You see, back in the bar's early stages the staff used to put on WWF wrestling matches on TV on Monday nights, mostly as a goof. The patrons got a kick out of it, and secretly, we did too. One of the big stars in the World Wrestling Federation (now known as World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE), was BAM BAM BIGELOW. The Monster from Bayonne, New Jersey. We liked him because he was a Jersey guy; he also was a blue collar wrestler. He wasn't blessed with the body of an Adonis- actually quite the opposite. He was a fat guy with tattoos all over his body, especially on his bald head. Although he had his freakish physical features, he was deceptively quick and agile and strong as an ox and could easily hold his own against the likes of HULK HOGAN and ANDRE THE GIANT, the big stars back then. For those reasons he became a big hit with us. He was a popular wrestler for many years, then simply disappeared off of our radar (or more likely we grew up and moved on to other things).
In any case, it's sad to see such a nice guy go so early. Seems to be the case more and more for these wrestlers these days. What a shame. Here's hoping that he goes to the "Big Ring in the Sky". Rest in Peace.
