It's late Thursday night and the evening seems to be winding down. The crowd tonight was pretty mellow for the most part; relatively busy but very laid back. Not sure if the muggy weather sapped out the energy from everyone but it's definitely a "blah" vibe.
FASHION DISASTER ALERT! I know that I've harped on this in the past but the more I harp on it, the more I see it and the more vexed I get. This dress/leggings look that all of the Murray Hill fembots wear ad nausum drives me up the wall! Am I the only one that thinks that this look is terrible? Nothing redeeming about it. Either wear a dress or wear leggings. WTF? AAaaarrrgggh!Sorry kids, simply just not feeling it. Call me crazy. Would it be PETA of me if I were to slap the next woman wearing this outfit with a banana peel? (I wouldn't really slap any woman with anything- I'd pay someone to do it for me)
BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE COMES AND GOES. So the much-anticipated MLB trade deadline was yesterday and while there weren't many trades in general, there were a couple of doozy moves that affects the local teams. The NY Yankees made a move to shore up their catcher position by bringing on vet Ivan Rodriguez (via Detroit). I-Rod (or Pudge as he's affectionately known as), isn't a spring chicken, however he brings to the team experience, an established bat and a strong throwing arm. Tools that the Yankees can always use. Then to make things more interesting, the rival Boston Red Sox made a huge move, trading its disgruntled star, Manny Ramirez to the L.A. Dodgers for young, upcoming star, Jason Bay. Only time will tell how these deals will have an effect on these two rival teams. Stay tuned....
UPCOMING NEWS: Now that we're secure with a *five-year lease extension*, Third and Long will be closed after business hours next Saturday (August 9) for a couple of weeks, while we handle some "cosmetic changes" to the place. We should be open again by the end of the month. Once we're back up and running, look out for the "AOL Best Sports Bar in NYC" Victory Party on Wednesday, August 27. Look at it as our rebirth, so to speak. Should be a fun time! \\
