It's Fat Tuesday, the last day of Mardi Gras and the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season. The origin of Fat Tuesday (for those of you out of the loop) varies, depending on who you talk to, but the common belief dates back a couple of centuries back in England. It has been said that to prepare for Ash Wednesday and the giving up of dairy products, people cleared their cabinets of all such products, mixed them up with flour and made pancakes to eat so that the dairy wouldn't go to waste. Thus the title "Fat Tuesday" was born.
Speaking of pancakes, to commemorate the event, all IHOP restaurants will be giving away free short-stack pancakes TODAY from 7am - 10pm. All you have to do is make a donation to charity and you get to eat pancakes for free!
