NEW FACES

Last night's edition of PUB TRIVIA continued the trend of new faces at the bar, more so than ever before. At one point during the early part of the evening, practically every seat in the bar was filled with newbies, leaving the trivia regulars out in the cold, so to speak.

With a "mystery theme" and lots of spirited competition between the teams, we ended up having a "chug-off" at the end of the night to determine the winner of the night's competition. Another successful Wednesday night.

Some things I noticed from the night:

1) You apparently can eat six saltine crackers in less than a minute. The two trivia hosts bet one another that BIG RED couldn't eat six saltine crackers in under a minute (apparently this is impossible to do).

Apparently it can be done.

2) Beware of that "special friend". Everyone who works in a bar has that "special friend" who comes to the bar every time you work and they can't take their eyes off of you the whole time you're there. Either they have to talk to you every five minutes or they do the opposite and say nothing, yet you can feel their eyes burning a hole in your back. They think that you are their best friend and have no problems letting everyone know that. It sometimes borders on creepy. The bartenders seem to attract them the most. I give them a lot of credit for dealing with it because it can be a bit weird at times.

3) Lady Gaga was in the house last night. No, not that LADY GAGA, but you would have thought she was, thanks to the young lady who insisted that we play every Lady Gaga song ever made. I made the mistake of playing "Bad Romance" for her, just to get her off of my back. That simply opened up the floodgates and she began requesting songs left and right. It got to the point where she would look at me to make a song request and I'd just walk away. Finally I told her that if she wanted to hear Lady Gaga, go to the jukebox. I wasn't going to be her personal DJ. She didn't get it. She continued to ask me and the barstaff for song requests the rest of the night. And of course, we didn't play any... until after she left.

The madness never ends. Just a typical night at Third and Long.
