HOLY SHITBALLS....

That, my friend, would be the general reaction from anyone who's been following this year's NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. All sorts of twists and turns has made this year's tournament the most bizarre in recent memory.  If you honestly had BUTLER, UCONN, KENTUCKY and VCU as your Final Four, I would probably still call bullshit.  It's been that crazy.

I don't know how people are doing in their respective NCAA pools, but in the one I'm a part of, this will be by far, the LOWEST scoring NCAA pool I've ever seen.  It's been that unpredictable.  I said to more than one person that this year's tournament would be wide open, but I didn't think it would be THAT wide open.  That being said, I kinda liked seeing some underdogs make their way to the Final Four.

What I didn't anticipate, however, was how the new televised format of the tournament would affect the bars.  I think having all the games available on network TV had an adverse effect on the bars.  In the past , to see all of the games at once, you had to go to a place that had the games on Directv.  Now that you can watch whatever game you want in the comfort of your own apartment, it definitely makes a difference.  That was definitely noticed along 3rd Avenue during the tournament.  Don't get me wrong, business has been great so far, however, the "vibe" or electricity that comes with March Madness is surely lacking this year.

So while we wait until next weekend for the Final Four to tip off, we now shift our attention to Thursday afternoon and the first pitch of Opening Day in Major League Baseball.  The NY Yankees are one of 12 teams to start their season on Thursday, opening at home against Detroit (1pm).  The NY Mets open on the road on Friday, facing the Florida Marlins (7pm).

We'll be hosting an Opening Day viewing party for the NY Mets on Friday (sponsored by SNY and HOMETOWN BEVERAGES), so if you don't have a ticket to the game, join us as we view Opening Day festivities here!  Click HERE for more details!

That's All I Got.

Cheers!

Rooting for Butler, but really impressed with VCU. I think VCU-Kentucky on Monday night. Calipari will try to screw it up at the end, but Kentucky will win. A few years from now, the championship will be vacated.
