SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST ALS!

ALS (better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that affects a person's voluntary muscle movement.  It's a gradually debilitating disease, which over time causes the body to eventually shut down due to lack of control of the muscles.  Whenever you hear the term "Lou Gehrig's Disease", the immediate reaction is usually one of "wow", because you know what eventually comes from it.  With that being said, as sad as it is to hear about someone who has it, it doesn't really hit home until you find out someone you know personally has been diagnosed with the disease.

It has recently come to light that one of our former regulars, Kevin Swan, was diagnosed with ALS.  While this may have been devastating news to receive from his doctor, instead of simply giving up hope, he has instead, chosen to meet this fight head on.  He recently participated in a walk-a-thon in Florida to raise funds and awareness for ALS, and is currently planning a ALS Awareness Weekend in June, 2012, which includes a golf tournament, cocktail party, raffles and an online auction, all in the effort to raise more awareness and support of ALS research.

To take it step further, he's started work on a video project to create awareness about ALS:

Please take a moment to watch the video. You can watch it at work, at home, on the bus... just give it a watch. It would mean a lot to me, and more importantly, it would mean a lot to Kevin. He's supported the bar over the years, it's time we support him now.

And check out his Facebook page, "Kevin's No-Limit Soldiers", which offers information pertaining to upcoming events related to Kevin Swan and his fight against ALS.

Thanks!
