KICK THE KEG SATURDAYS: SOME RANDOM OBSERVATIONS...

It's about 12:45pm on Saturday afternoon and "Kick the Keg Saturdays" is in full swing. There's about ten people at the moment, enjoying $2.00 mugs (all drafts are $2.00 all afternoon long); AMY SMART's working behind the bar and I'm hanging out, blogging and doing other bar-related stuff. In the first hour since we've been open, I've already had to kick out some guy for being too drunk. It isn't even one o'clock yet! WTF?

Folks seem to be enamored by the selections on tap. In a way, "Kick the Keg" is a good opportunity to try out different beers on tap that you wouldn't necessarily order on your own. For some, "Kick the Keg" presents an opportunity to play drinking games such as "Around the World", where you have to sample each draft at least once and then do a shot after you complete each tower of taps. Personally I think it's a recipe for disaster but for a lot of these guys, it's a badge of honor. Oy vey!

"Kick the Keg" is driven by the beers on tap (of course), but it's also powered by the college game schedule. The bar has the ESPN Game Plan, which offers college football games from all over the country. So if there's a pretty good match up airing, then chances are pretty good that the bar will be filled with hardcore fans. You definitely get your share of "interesting folk", that's for sure.
